Diamond head

The widest part of the face sits high, near the tip. More mass meets the ball on the smash - and the sweet spot shrinks and moves up with it.

Carbon and fiberglass face

Woven carbon blended with fiberglass. The fiberglass adds flex, so the ball leaves the face with less effort - the trade is a less explosive feel than a full-carbon diamond.

Soft EVA memory core

The softest EVA grade. It compresses further on impact, which takes the sting out of an off-center hit - the thing stiff diamonds are worst at.

Matte 3D dot surface

A fine matte grain with raised dots across the face. It grips the ball for spin on the smash and the vibora, and kills the glare from indoor lights.

100% carbon frame

The rim and throat are full carbon, so a head-heavy frame stays stable instead of twisting when you catch the ball high.

Triangle throat

A triangular opening where the head meets the handle. It stiffens the frame, moves power into the ball and takes some vibration out of the grip.

Details

The INSUM Power takes the frame of the INSUM Fast - 100% carbon rim, soft EVA core, 367 grams - and puts it behind a diamond head. The widest part of the face moves up toward the tip, so more of the racket's mass meets the ball when you go overhead.

The softness stays. The EVA is the soft grade and the face blends carbon with fiberglass, so the ball comes off easily and a mishit does not ring up your arm the way it does on a stiff diamond. A matte micro-texture with raised 3D dots grips the ball for spin on the smash and the vibora, and the triangle throat keeps the head from twisting on contact.

The price of a diamond is the sweet spot. It is the smallest of the three shapes and it sits high on the face, so a late or cramped swing gets punished. If you are still building your timing, the round INSUM Fast is the easier racket to live with.
